My Dearest Dell

My dearest Dell =]
See how there's a lovely glowing blue light that's just glowing off of any nearby object that catches the light? Guess what that is =]

Oh how I love my Dell. It's barely 3 years old and my lil Inspiron 6400 is starting to go downhill in its functions. Of late, the system would freeze and become totally unresponsive (any repeated attempts for response evokes a rather loud and unpleasant *BEEP*). It's been going on for the past 3 weeks or so and its only been getting progressively worse.

Recently, I've been using the laptop as little as possible so that I can concentrate more on studying. However, when I do decide to make use of it to check email, etc. it constantly frustrates me. Not to mention, when I'm in a rush and need to find something urgently, whether it's to open a file, a folder, or check an email, it just HAS to freeze up on me. I can tell you, that everyday my laptop froze at least 10 times for about 2-3 mins. And programs alone...well it happens so often I'm not sure if I'd come up with a high enough number.

It's becoming really frustrating and the fact that it's getting worse doesn't make things any better at all. I don't know what's wrong with it...3-4 weeks ago, my laptop was working like it did 6 months ago and now all of a sudden it goes plop? I run daily virus scans (automatic) with AVG and I never get any reports about threats and stuff on my laptop. I dunno.

In about a month, I should be getting a new laptop. A 17" MacBook Pro. I can't wait for it. =D But I'll still be keeping the good ole PC around...for as long as it lets me =] I still love my Dell the best because it survived a swim in Fruit Punch (all thanks to a stupid 6/7 yr old boy who seemed to have thought it would be fun to pour juice on the keyboard) without any problems at all. (Yes, I was very surprised too...I was ready to cry at it's funeral because I only got the laptop 6 months earlier)

So, I said I'd take a pic of the lovely blueness of my awesome new cooling pad and so you've seen a pic! Yay! I thought I'd take a peek at what it looks like under the laptop too and it looks pretty cool too =D

Can you see all 3 fans? Here's a hint: they're glowing =o

P.S. The laptop froze 3 times and the browser froze 5 times in the time it took to type up this blog. How awful is that?

Simple

I've decided on the laptop I want! =] Gonna get it in June when I go to New York...yay! It was well decided after I found out if there were any places that dealt with Apple products here in Barbados, of course. Can't have something happening and nowhere to take it after all. Also seems like my laptops grow with each new one I get. My first laptop (not including the one handed down to me from my Dad) was a 13" Sony Vaio. Now I've got my 3 year old 15" Dell Inspiron and now I'm planning to give Apple a shot and get a 17" Macbook Pro!

Yes, that's right. PC to Mac. I had considered the switch after hearing about the use of Microsoft Office with Macs. Go me!

Went to the optometrist today for the usual eye exam. Seems like I've got me a very very small astigmatism in my left eye. The dude said that its so small we'll ignore it for now. I wonder when that happened? =o

One of those awesome-great days

I got a new bed yesterday! It's so awesome...and huge! My room feels a whee bit smaller cuz of it but that's ok cuz I love it anyways =D My mom also decided to go change my curtains while she was at it lol. It's a queen size! I know...it's so big for such a tiny person such as myself but I like to sleep with the comfort of knowing that it's unlikely for me to fall off =P We also decided to get a new frame as well and it looks really great. Yes, that's right, I like neutral colours. Nice though isn't it?

I also got 2 new bookshelves! My other ones are a bit small and they were filling up and stuff so I got some new ones and replaced the old ones. They look nice...the only thing is that it doesn't go with anything else in the room. The shelves are such a wonderfully dark brown while everything else...isn't. So yea, that's before I packed it with books of course. And the other bookshelf is somewhere else in the room. Ohh I'm gonna have to move that picture behind the shelf...almost forgot.

Finals are in two weeks and I've hardly started studying! I'm such a delinquent...really I am. But, instead of studying, I'll be going to my friend's house to play Rock Band! Well...I'm carring some work with me as well incase I can manage a little study time in there somewhere. But omg! FUN! Hahaha. I can't possibly stress enough how much I'm lacking in that for the past 2.5 months.

Oh! And my laptop's speakers are working like normal again! The sound they were giving off had diminished by like...5/8...and I had to turn it all the way up to hear anything...sometimes I just had to use headphones to make life simpler. But this morning, they just randomly came back to life! I'd like to think that I have a self-healing laptop xD Two years ago, a little child decided that he'd pour fruit punch on my laptop keyboard (and of course, everything that works the laptop is under there) but it was like a miracle! Nothing happened at all, except that the keys were sticky for awhile and I learnt a new feature of the laptop! The only thing that doesn't work anymore is the CD burner =( but oh well, I'll get a new one next year!
