Entering the Year of the Ox

It's Chinese New Year! And I wish all the best for all other Chinese people around the world =]

The year of the Rat has passed. A year in which many things have happened...both good and bad. And we can only hope for the best for the Chinese lunar new year...the year of the Ox.

I don't normally do anything special on New Year's Eve. My Mum doesn't cook anything special and we don't decorate either. We aren't allowed to eat meat on New Year's day, which is perfectly fine with me since I'm not a big meat eater anyways =] Normally we'll sit and watch the CCTV Spring Festival Gala live on New Year's Eve. It starts at 8 p.m. (China time) and continues till 1 a.m.

The Spring Festival Gala is always really interesting to watch. They have a number of performances from singing and dancing to comedy sketches and crosstalks. They don't translate the sketches and crosstalks but sometimes they're just funny to watch =D

Of course, my Mum and I called our family in Hong Kong and I spoke to my Grandmother wishing her a Happy New Year and my wishes for good health =] She has quite a few ailments to deal with so I hope she gets better...

I ponder...life?

Hmmm.

Everyone has a different way of living. No two lifestyles are exactly the same, are they? There's the common factor though: challenges are thrown at us time and time again. Harder and more difficult to deal with. But never something that can't be handled..if you know your goals.

Well...I'm not really pondering life. My friend is...or was? Haha not sure what he's thinking about now but that's what he was thinking about last night. We went to watch Marley & Me and it was pretty much a movie about...life! The average life of a married couple and a misbehaving dog. There was nothing special about the movie or the people or the dog. It was a nice simple movie with an incredibly sad ending...it's like they were doing their best to make their audience cry...really...

Come Monday, I'll be back to the usual routine...Sleep, go to classes, eat, go to more classes, return home, study, eat, sleep...For the next few months. *sigh* Fairly boring. With 7 courses, I'll be at U.W.I. for longer hours and I'll be in my books more than last semester.

Our grades were finally posted online. And that was all it took to make my week =D I'm really surprised. I didn't think I could do so well but I did and I'm pretty proud of myself. I can still hardly believe my grades though...I stared at the page for like half an hour, wondering if I was seeing right. But I've accepted them. And I'm happy. x]

yay!

Dusk to Dawn

So my recent obsession has been the Twilight Series. I always keep thinking that I should've picked up Twilight & New Moon when I saw them in a bookstore in NY when I went during Christmas '07. But oh well...no need to regret now. Somehow I'm managing to get my hands on all the books! Got my hands on the first 3...and just when I thought I wouldn't be able to get the last one my friend tells me his sister has it. Joy!

Maybe the last time I was obsessed with reading a series was Harry Potter hmmm. But I've been finishing Stephenie Meyer's books in less than 24 hrs! I'm just so into it that I don't really wanna do anything else...so I've been neglecting the internet (and hence my friends on MSN lol) and anime. ^_^ But I always did like reading...Good books can really keep my at it =D

I went to watch the Twilight movie last night at the drive in with my friends. It was most interesting. I had to do my utmost best to keep the book far far away from my mind while I was watching (not entirely successful of course). But if I didn't think of the book, I'd say the movie was pretty good. And almost all (if not all) the friends I went with never read the book (a couple didn't even know anything about it) and they thought it was good.

The book was, of course, much more interesting and funnier. The movie had things happening in a different order (like too early) and things happening that never happened in the book and conversations happening in different places. And, of course, I had imaginged some people and things a little differently (like Edward's skin in the sunlight, it was always much brighter in my mind).

I'm half-way through Eclipse (which I intend to finish today) and I'll be picking up Breaking Dawn (borrowing) from my friend today as well so I can get right to it tomorrow since he'll be working.

I can't wait! xD

Farewell 2008!

Kanpai~! xD

Happy New Year!

I got to ring in the New Year with most of my friends at a house lime I had =D It was fun fun and my Mum made awesome food as usual =D We watched movies and played Rock Band 2 and Call of Duty and we just hung out and had fun =]

A few people left a little early but most didn't leave till the wee hours of the morning...like 5:30 and 6:30 xD And I was wakeful for the entire time! I didn't go to sleep till about 8:30ish though cuz I had to drop a friend to work by 7:30 and another friend I had to take home. So when I came back home I ate some breakfast, put on some PJs and went fast to sleep. Yay for being up for 22.5 hrs or so! It's a new record in my book lol.

Hope everyone else had a good New Year's Eve/New Years as well! And I wish everyone the best for 2009 =D
