Innocence

Sometimes things just aren't what they seem.

Last night I went to the Drive In to watch Hotel for Dogs and Coraline with a friend and my mom. Hotel for Dogs was a lovely little family movie. Coraline was not. It was so far from my expectations that I was just so surprised about it. I thought it was one of those cute innocent little movies like Corpse Bride and some others I can't remember. When I saw trailers and pictures and stuff, I hadn't expected it to be so creepy and weird!

The thing about it was that it started off quite nicely. Well, it was weird and random but in a cute friendly way. I bit boring actually...some people left. Then it slowly started to get weirder and weirder...then creepiness was dealt into it. And there was some stuff in that movie that I'm sure little kids should not be seeing. Like partial nudity. It was really quite disturbing! I can't believe it's rated G at the Olympus Theatre. I bet they just thought "oh it's an animation so let's rate it G". Psh. Wrong idea.

So some things just aren't as innocent as they seem. From movies to people. I've just recently learnt how incredibly scary and horrible this one person in my life is. And it's not happening to me. It's happening to my friend. =[. I'll be praying for them.

Today, I'll be going to watch Watchmen! Guess we'll see if it's as good as people say it'll be.

Going Platinum!

I'm still a little Pokemon nerd at heart. It can't be helped =] A good friend of mine got Pokemon Platinum recently and told me he was playing and something inside me just went *click* and all I knew next was that I wanted to play! I still do =[ I want a Nintendo DS. I don' have one = but I'd so get one just for Pokemon...cuz I'm a nerd like that hahaha.

I ended up dropping by my friend's house and playing it a bit...TWICE! haha Go me! It really was quite fun. Haven't played in ages. Apparently, it's like I'm letting the child in me come out cuz I look so happy playing hahaha. But, honestly, I just love it. How can I not?

I wanna play!

Teni Puri

Tenisu no Ouji-sama - Zenkoku Taikai-hen Finals

Tenisu no Ouji-sama a.k.a. The Prince of Tennis is such an AWESOME series! I just love it...love it, love it! It's a super long series though 178 episodes followed by an extra 26 episodes in the OVA. Then there's another OVA and a movie. All of which I've watched and own =D Teni Puri is just like a really familiar name that they use for some of their special chibi episodes.

I finished watching the last two episodes of the National Tournament OVA yesterday and just got so happy and excited over it. It's really good, I'd recommend it to everyone! Well...as long as you like tennis and don't mind seeing the exaggerated playing. But it's really nice to see how each character grows and evolves.

Here's a pretty basic summary of it from Animenewsnetwork.com:
Echizen Ryoma is a young tennis prodigy who has won 4 consecutive tennis championships but who constantly lies in the shadow of his father, a former pro tennis player. He joins the Seishun Gakuen junior highschool, one of the best tennis schools in Japan, and there along with his teamates he learns to find his own type of tennis in an attempt to defeat his biggest obstacle of all: his father as well as himself.

Check it out if it interests you any =]

Clarity

Top: Old pair
Bottom : New pair

So, I got me a new pair of spectacles! Haha, I love that word...spectacles! The new pair isn't as thick as it looks, it's really thin..and lighter than my old pair too! And the old pair has more rounded corners and they don't bend behind the ears.

When I went to pick up the new pair today, the lady had to keep fixing the ear thingies cuz one side felt tighter than the other and it was awhile before she got it right. All the while, I kept thinking "I'm never getting glasses with the bend ever again, it's too troublesome." But if I'm really gonna keep to that, then I'll be getting my next pair overseas since the options here are way too limited. I was wearing contact lenses when I went to pick it up so I wasn't wearing it for long...but now that I'm home and wearing it, I need to go back and fix the nose pieces. They're too wide apart and the glasses keep annoyingly slipping down my nose a little bit (doesn't go all the way thanks to the hooked ear thingies thankfully lol so they do serve some good purpose every so often.)

Actually, my last pair came from Hong Kong almost 3 years ago. I remember how my old pair used to hurt behind my ears cuz of the pure straightness. Have to get used to a new pair again...Ah yes, good times...

As far as the eye can see

I'm SO loving my new contact lenses. I probably already said that a few days ago but I really do love them. They're so comfortable. Monthly disposable lenses.

But the whole contact lens business is so expensive! It was BDS $125 per box and each box has 6 lenses. Then my eyes have different prescriptions so I had to get 2 boxes which makes for a 6 month supply at $250. Then, I have to get contact solution which is like $27 for 12 oz. and it lasts for 2-3 months. I'd end up spending so much a year on contact lenses. My mom was telling me that glasses are just so much cheaper since you just buy them spend a few hundred dollars and it lasts for 3 years.

There'll probably be a time when I just stop wearing contacts and keep with the glasses. Not sure. I like it when people think I have good eyesight but we'll see.

Three Kinds of Lies

Random pic: I love this cow =] It's so adorable...and it converts into a pillow! I call her Moo...yea i kno, so creative. I have a friend who's practically in love with her >.>" hahaha
  1. lies
  2. damned lies
  3. statistics
Or so says the Epidemiologist who took it upon herself to lecture us on Research Methods, "Epidemiweeniology" and Prevention (this was in the research methods lecture btw) Woo! We have a silly exam tomorrow morning that's worth a silly 50% of our final grade. Silly, isn't it? *sigh* I should really try to cram down those 9 lectures for 8 a.m.

I've worn my new contact lenses for 2 days now and I love how comfortable they are...I'm gonna give them one more day then email my optometrist to tell him that everything's A-OK =] And then he can gimme my box of prescribed lenses. Acuvue Oasis w/ Hydraclear! Hurray lol I always used to see those ads on TV. I have no clue what my last pair were. The dude I went to sucked. Never going back there again!

And I've got new frames too. I'll be sure to show them off when I get them. They're nothing special though =]

Eat Good Food!

Tofu! and Chinese Cabbage! and Cucumbers (an unnecessary accessory to the meal)!

I LOVE tofu...love it, love it, love it! Me loves me veggies too =D Chinese cabbage is good stuff but I don't particularly like foods that require me to chew excessively =\ It was delicious though.

Either way, you probably think the whippets look a lot yummier =P

Dinner was awesome tonight. Loved it.

Whippets

.Marshmallow, cookie and dark chocolatey goodness.

Delicious little snacks! I saw it in the supermarket the other day and just HAD to try it. As soon as I saw it, I was imagining how it tasted...how could I not buy a box? So soft and light and delightful!

Yummmm =]

Simple

I've decided on the laptop I want! =] Gonna get it in June when I go to New York...yay! It was well decided after I found out if there were any places that dealt with Apple products here in Barbados, of course. Can't have something happening and nowhere to take it after all. Also seems like my laptops grow with each new one I get. My first laptop (not including the one handed down to me from my Dad) was a 13" Sony Vaio. Now I've got my 3 year old 15" Dell Inspiron and now I'm planning to give Apple a shot and get a 17" Macbook Pro!

Yes, that's right. PC to Mac. I had considered the switch after hearing about the use of Microsoft Office with Macs. Go me!

Went to the optometrist today for the usual eye exam. Seems like I've got me a very very small astigmatism in my left eye. The dude said that its so small we'll ignore it for now. I wonder when that happened? =o

Passage of Time...

I can't believe it's the 6th week of Uni already! Like all the others, I'm sure it'll go by without me even noticing and then it'll be finals and then...Summer (vacation not the season, of course)! But I'm planning to do Summer school anyway.

Sometimes when I sit and think about it, I can't believe that my first year in Medicine is gonna be over and it'll be second year! Eeep! I'm almost looking forward to seeing the new first years haha. Soon it won't be just us anymore and I wonder if the Faculty will care about the class' opinion as much. Honestly, our class is too picky and it's a little annoying sometimes. As a doctor, you won't always get a chance to change the schedules given to you.

Sometimes you just have to take things as they come. Besides, you can't make everyone happy.
