Falling into past failures

I saw this beautiful sunset just a few days ago

I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't fall back into my old habits of not studying. I did pretty well for the first couple of weeks into the semester. Then last week, we had a guest spontaneously decide to visit.

I had already begun slipping by the time I heard about the sudden arrival so her presence certainly did not help me any. As a result of this visit, I haven't had the time or energy to study for the past week. Sure, I saw a lovely sunset and had some fun, but I've fallen so far behind that I feel as if I'm in the danger zone. In just one week.

Of course, it doesn't sound like I should be so far behind, does it? After all, it's only been 6 days really. But when we have 9 credit courses and I realised that I made about 30 pages of notes in just a few days of classes for just one part of one course and have about 5 chapters to read for another part of the same course for which I have an exam next week...it's very easy to physically see the danger of failing ahead of me. And I can't afford to fail anything.

I sure hope I can pull myself back together and catch up with the work. I know what needs to be done.

In happier news, I've got a cute new addition to my stuffed animal family. =] I have yet to name him.

It's A Beach Thing!

I had an amazing time at the beach today! It was a little lime we had going on for the first and second years to interact a bit more than we do at school...a casual setting for us to get along. =] Not a whole lot of people turned up but we all still had a lot of fun. I guess those who decided to stay home and do work missed out! =P

So I was watching the sunset this evening too. It was absolutely gorgeous and the horizon was totally clear of clouds. I always hear about the green flash that occurs just as the sun dips under the horizon but I didn't see it! I'm pretty sure people have told me that they've seen it but I didn't and I was making sure not to blink and everything! Quite the disappointment. =( So either this green flash doesn't exist or I was looking at the sun for too long as it was setting. I'll go with the former. =)

The last time the beach saw me was during August, if I remember correctly. So far it's seen me twice for the year! Amazing, huh? I live on an island with such wonderful beaches and yet I don't visit them often. Maybe once a year...three times if I really bother. It's nice though. I got me a sweet little tan today...hopefully no burns. =]

Hopefully, the next lime that's organised with the first and second years will have a much better turn out...it would most likely be an end-of-semester sort of thing. But I'll most likely not get to go since I leave the island the day after our final exam. *sigh* Aw well.

Purple's Palette

I scavenged this old photo somewhere on my laptop today =] I took it last May when I went to the Globe Drive In. Taken during the good ole' days when my Sony Ericsson's camera still worked. I miss being able to snap a pic with my cellphone when I see a good view =[

So this week is Med Sci week at the great old University of the West Indies. The first one ever at the Cave Hill campus since, after all, this is it's first year of existence here. Apparently the colour we've chosen for ourselves is purple! Our class reps had suggested that we all wear purple today but for those who didn't have purple shirts, we could wear black instead. I'm one of those who wore...black! I own no purple shirts...which is odd because I really like purple. And then I realised that the only purple item I own is a little purple hair clip...so I wore that instead! =D

So there's my purple contribution to the day's events =]

The Medical Science's Faculty is way too small to have its own week apparently so we've shared it with the Postgrads. There's gonna be a Panel Discussion tomorrow night entitled "Lowering The Rate of Unwanted Pregnancies in Barbados". Boring topic in my opinion, so I won't be going to that. Then there's a Beer Lime scheduled for Thursday night. It may be cool but it's not really my thing. Now I'm hearing about a Games Night that people want. That might be fun but I dunno.

My mom's making macaroni pie tonight! I'm really craving it right now. I could drool from merely thinking about dinner xD

Sunsets & Roses

Don't you just love how beautiful a sunset can be? =]

I was minding my own business doing important stuff on the net when a friend of mine texted me, telling me to look at the sunset and take a pic for him if I could. I looked at it a few minutes after I got it...and of course I was gonna take a pic cuz I love sunset pics myself. Come to think of it...I think he wrote a poem about sunsets once. It was nice, I liked it ^.^

The sun sure seems to set pretty quickly when it reaches the horizon so I'm not sure if the scene had looked any different from what he saw when he texted me...it was still pretty though =]

One thing I've always wanted to see was that green flash I keep hearing about! I've had at least 2 occassions when I could've seen it but something always distracted me at that very moment and I miss it =[ Oh well...I'll be sure to see it someday!
